Cons of Outserts?

I notice a lot of negative feedback about outserts, from all of the different manufacturers. I've loved them on my VAPs over the last year. What are the cons of outserts that gives them a bad reputation?

I'm in the same boat. I've shot outserts for a few years now and have yet to have an issue. I even buried one in a pig's head, dug it out, put another head on it and killed a deer later.

What outcerts are you using? I always liked the idea, but much like you I found way too much negative feedback to try them. Everyone says they bend, even the newer ones get bad reviews. I went with Deep6 incerts in my VAPs, which I've been using 4yrs now. They work great, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of having to buy new broadheads and the selection is more limited (not judo heads).

Not a full outsert but for the past several weeks I've been running black golds pierce half outsert in some Easton a/c Injexions and have been been very happy. Shot them a ton into my matrix target and so far so good...

They bend. If you shoot into bag targets they bend a lot. Depending on the bag target, they may bend daily.

I'm going to have to spin test mine. I just use the ones that come with the VAPs. It just seems like arrows using hidden inserts splinter every time they miss the target, whereas the outserts protect the front of the arrow.

I have shot black eagle arrows for the last year with there half outserts. I have never had an issue with them, I spin then every so often to check. They have been shot into a few different style targets with no issues.

If the outserts are made from aluminum its only a matter of time before they bend (not if when). If they are made of stainless steel I am a big believer in them. I like the HIT inserts both standard and deep six but if you hit something hard chances are the end will split or break in some way. The only other downside I can think of for outserts is if they have a noticable lip on the shaft connection and you shoop a bag it will be difficult to pull them out because they get caught for some reason. If that transition is smooth no problems at all.

Guess you need some different bag targets then because I've never had the issues that you describe with the outserts. I've shot them all, Gold Tip, Victory (all versions) and the Firenock outserts.
