Congrats. USPS….

Here in the rural Ozarks the USPS is about our least bad option.
FedEx refuses to deliver to our home due to our 2.2-mile-long driveway. UPS is even worse.
Last fall I was sitting at our kitchen table discussing paperwork with our assigned ATF agent (we have a type 07 FFL) when I got a notification on my phone that FedEx had delivered a firearm. except they delivered it to my neighbor's house 1.5 miles away and falsified my signature on the package. About the time I was showing the agent the screen shot of the firearm sitting on my neighbor's porch the neighbor texted me to tell me about it sitting there. No one down there had signed for the package yet there was A signature on the receipt/screenshot. To say the ATF agent was unhappy with FedEx that day was an understatement lol. Even after she went to the FedEx sorting facility that serves our area to have a "discussion" with them about proper firearms handling they still just throw out our packages - including firearms, optics, and reloading supplies - down at our gate. Luckily, I have a security camera down there, so I at least know when it shows up and go grab it quickly.
At least our local USPS delivery lady knows where our house is and will text me when she needs a signature on a package so I can drive down and meet her at the gate. The problem is getting the damned package to our local post office in the first place.

OK everybody says they don't take take money...educate me...Where did the 9 billion they lost last come from?...Folks are still getting paid, trucks are running.
Does USPS defy all logistics of business and is the only company in the world that can still operate and loose money?
It's been 20 years and they loose money every year?
lose only has one o.. :)

Ever heard of debt?

It's all a pyramid scheme...

Amazon was 20 years old and ENORMOUS before it ever made a profit.

Shoot, SoftBank... A BANK operates at a loss.
You can't compare public companies to a goverment organization. As part of broader financial strategy yes, some public companies operate at loss because they have secured capital by other means to cover the operating loss.
You know where the USPS gets the capital to cover their loss? The USA treasury. So every year they loose money tax money bails them out.
They do not get a yearly appropriation of tax dollars by law, they are supposed to be self funded...but the for last 20 years?

Did you know Amazon pays the USPS approx 6B a year to deliver the stuff that isn't cost efficient for them to do?

What's really crazy is that an organization so incompetent is entrusted to deliver ballots in some states.

Now you know one of the reasons why some of the politicians want to kill them and a method they are using to do it.

The USPS being terrible is a relatively new thing. It was very good from ca. 1990-2015.

But hey, do whatever you can to make sure FedEx, UPS, and Amazon make more money.

Yes, and it’s still not cost efficient for the USPS to do it either.

If it’s worth $6b to Amazon NOT to do it… you see how costs are being shifted off Amazon onto the public. Jeff Bezos isn’t dumb.

The entire government runs losing money.

So then by your logic it's fine that USPS does.

I got mail in my PO box County court paperwork for a guy in the southern end of my county.
Nothing matched, names, address, towns, nothing.

I took it to the counter and asked the gal to explain how this happened. She was pretty a pleasant go f yourself.
I mean this guy have got thrown in jail or had to pay a fine for the PO screw up.

USPS needs scrapped and start over.

Something that folks tend to either forget or refuse to acknowledge is that the USPS is NOT a private company that is self-funded. It is a gov agency that mitigates costs by charging for the service that they provide but they were NEVER set up to be self-funding in perpetuity.
Although I also feel frustration at their current lack of anything nearing competency.

I mean... That says they ship firearm stuff.

Good friend of mine is a FFL and sends/receives from them several times a week. Some distributors only ship via USPS.
Sure, from an FFL. As an individual, i can’t walk in to a UPS and ship a trigger or a stock, or heck probably even scope rings.

Not meant to rag on the USPS, but this is a head scratcher to say the least for a package that was scheduled to be delivered July 15th. Heck, it might even be delivered a day early, but it's been in greater Phoenix for two days.

Ground advantage?
Nevermind. See you shipped priority. Did you have the put priority tape or stickers on it? If not, it may be thought to be ground advantage. I’ve had that happen numerous times.

I live rural Alaska and honestly, I can’t complain. I’ve moved from one bush community to another numerous times which involved shipping 95 plus 18 gallon rubber made totes. Never had one disappear. Rates are getting insane and now that I live in a regional hub, my mail service has slowed tremendously. Can’t wait to get back to the road system.
