USPS is terrible.
I had a package that disappeared in USPS shipment. I tracked it from one USPS facility to another only to stop at one of their facilities and disappear. Their customer service $ucks. Did nothing to help. The Seller did reimburse me.

Another time, I shipped a package to someone “150mi away” by USPS. The package travel from the East Coast to the West Coast only later come back to the East Coast. 2.5 weeks later it was delivered. Wth

And USPS recently increased the cost of postage again.

I go back and forth on the shipping company I like the most.

But between USPS/UPS/FedEx...

USPS is always a very distant third.

I hate Amazon for all sorts of reasons... But if they would start a shipping service, they would have about 90% of the shipping business in this country in a week.

Right...and the goverment generates 0 revenue. ZERO. I don't give damn about failing private businesses they aren't taking money out of my pocket every year.

The biggest argument against getting rid of the USPS is "who is gonna serve the poor communities in Alaska or rural Montana?!!"

And then you hear what the rural Montanans tell you about them and it is never good.

I live in Alaska, and USPS is by far the best courier here. UPS and Fedex are both awful. I always choose USPS if it is an option. An obvious positive on the ledger of my tax dollars.

Anything gun related is a no-go with UPS. Pirate ship doesn't offer anything fedex so I don't know of their services so end up using USPS most of the time. Been lucky so far. Only problems I had were 2 different instances of bullets that either weren't packaged right or the mailman used them as a soccer ball.

Good friend of mine is a FFL and sends/receives from them several times a week. Some distributors only ship via USPS.
