Concussive Hearing Loss article

I remember reading that article when it came out. I own 4 centerfire suppressors and a rimfire suppressor at this point. I have no interest in shooting unsuppressed firearms, there's just no going back.

I wear hearing protection while hunting even without a brake, that being said is there any research to support the article’s claims?

yes, i've lost some hearing due to shooting but mostly artillery and explosives. we use our fingers for ear protection with explosives and double ear pro for artillery. nothing keeps the concussive effects out of your skull. funny how safe operating distances for OSHA are less than half that of special operators. guess the military wants to keep those guys around longer.

While I didn’t know the term it’s why I hated brakes. For years none of my rifles were threaded. Bought a Ridgeline and shot one group with the brake and took it off. Few months later I ended up with two more rifles with brakes and have forced myself to use them but they are coming off and I am going to start using my rifle suppressor that has been sitting in the shop......

I have pretty good left side tinitus (right handed shooter). Went to full time ear pro for bird hunting and big game about three years ago. However, I do quite a bit of range work with my hunting rifles and note increases in ringing afterwards even with ear pro. This article has me seriously considering the tax stamp.
