I was wondering what kind of of compression bag to get for my sleeping bag. What kind and what size, I have a kelty ignite dridown 0deg bag. Should I get a waterproof one? I was wondering about the waterproof one because if I needed to strap it to my pack for more room,I am using the j34 pack.im just keep ordering things and thought I would ask you guys first since of your first hand experience in the back country. Thanks

I use a 15 L OR dry compression sack for my 15* Wiggys and my 0* MH synthetic. A down bag, you could probably use something smaller...maybe even a 10L.

If I'm going to keep anything dry, I'd like it to be my sleeping bag.

I use the same exact thing as Kodiak for the same exact reason. My spare socks, base layers, puffy, rain gear etc live in the compression sack that my sleeping bag came with.

Yeah I agree the OR (Outdoor Research) bags probably represent one of the best values, and Sea to Summit. But I'd also check out the Kifaru 5-String compression bags as well as I think they are some of the lightest.
Anyone know if Z-Packs makes a cuben fiber 5-string?

I run a size medium sea to summit compression drysack . I don't like wet down bags ! The event in the bottom really allows you to get that thing super small.

I use the Sea to Summit eVent compression bags. They are completely waterproof with a roll top closure, and are strong enough to really compress that bag with the straps.

I use a Kifaru large compression sack. They are the only ones I could find that compress circumfrence instead of length. I can fit my bag, bivy, tipi tarp, and sleeping pad all in the compression sack with no problem. Basically, my whole sleep system in one sack.

I believe they are waterproof if seam sealed, but not positive on that.

thanks for the input i went with the kifaru medium 5 string compression bag and also bought 5 of those pull out bags made by kifaru, i got 2 smalls 2 mediums and 1 large to seperate my gear in.

I just received my Kifaru 5 string medium last week and I'm amazed at how much I can pack into it and how small it cinches down. I'll seam seal the thing and won't worry too much about the open end. Unless I go for a swim in a river, it's as waterproof as I need it to be in my pack. My ZPack's sleeping bag is in a waterproof cuben bag along with my puffy stuff anyways, so my critical gear is protected.
