Compass Storage

Dumb question here, I have looked through all my USMC manuals and can't find an answer.

How do you store a compass long term. Going through a move and have my Cammenga NSN model and Suunto MC-2G and want to maintain them. Obviously, not storing them next to magnets or my barbell set, but is there anything I should know or am I overthinking this?
