Just spent a few days elk hunting with 4 guys in my 6 man with medium stove. It was tight with no packs. Had a little condensation issue to deal with sleeping bag touching the sides. 6 man really is fine with 3 guys. Is it the same ratio when it comes to the 8 man, really comfortable with only 4 guys? It’s not bad finding a spot to setup for the 6 man what about the 8 man?

I've owned both and I like the 8 man of hunting with 3. The 6 man is better for 2. 3 go 8 man. 4 guys go 12 man. I like to have some room for gear and wood etc.

what justin said^

owned two 8 man tipis and sold both. now i have a 6 man and a 12 man. 3 will be a lot happier in something bigger than a 6 man.

Different manufacturer, but this is an 8 man (foreground) and a 6 man (background) pitched. We slept 2 guys per tipi, with wood stoves. I think that for 4 guys on cots, and a stove, you may want the 12 man.
