Colt said it would halt producing for the consumer market.

Colt hasn't made a quality firearm for a long time. It's been focused on selling and licensing it's name to other gun manufactures. FN has taken over most military contracts, so Colt must be selling us some smoke about that.
I've been out a decade but our M16A4 Were made by fn and our M4s were colts. I carried both, both were well built and reliable as any direct impingement rifle can be.

Of course they make a quality M4, anybody can as long as they follow mil-specs. BCM is a great mil-spec rifle manufacturer and they go beyond most companies by adding additional quality control measures.

Word got around that CMMG was producing some Colt M4s when they could not keep up with production.

I love this marketing strategy.

Create a demand by telling people that they won't be able to get anymore so everyone goes out of their minds buying. Also add this is what LEO and MIL uses so the 5.11 tacticool guys have to have.

Keep slipping inventory into the market since they are flying off the shelves.

Cue the ebay guys saying "last batch", "Pre-Ban" or "historical" and tripling the price.

Then when you reintroduce them give a $50 upgrade and charge 50% more.

Sometimes I almost fall for it too. When I read the article my first thought was geeze I don't have a colt ar in my safe. Then I remembered why.........
You might just me up to something.

Now we dont know if its true or a gimmick to sell more guns. mmmhhh i hate when business get mixed with politic.

I don't see that the 3 are mutually exclusive.

1). It's very possible due to the political climate that they are bowing out.

2). It's very possible that due the the fact darn near any other AR is better that they are getting hammered in the consumer market place and because of that pulling this gimmick.

3). Its also very possible that due to the fact that they are getting hammered in the consumer marketplace and the fact that they may have outsourced some of their Govt/Mil contracts that they are bringing it back in house to up their profit margin.

And it could be all 3 or a percentage of any of them.
