I think what some non-res folks don’t realize is that 90% of resident hunters would kill to have a chance at a raghorn bull every year.

Compared to some eastern whitetail hunting, western hunting is still extremely low opportunity even for residents.

In Colorado three years ago a local dude by the name of Scott stopped to chat, temps in the teens and popped out of his heated Bronco in a T-shirt which added to the effect. Cool guy and we chatted for a while probably half hour and he never flinched while my Texas brain kept thinking he's got a be freezing any minute but he never did. He explained that he'd been hunting that unit for 20 years and killed two Elk and before that killed on private land for a total of three Elk. He explained that he's still beating the average of one Elk every 7 years but he needed to kill one that year or the next to avoid falling behind. I thought that was an interesting conversation.

Hi! I like elk huntin too, problem is I get older every year and have smol children my back hurts boss…, can anyone tell me which units I have a good chance at killing a 340+ bull but with a 400 yard or less packout? again not looking for honey holes, thanks in advance
