I had that tag for the 75 block last year. I bumped over to 74 for some variation this year. The drought and heat killed off almost all of the berries about a week before the season opened last year and there was also a widespread oak mast failure. The bears were low and I heard there weren’t any checked above 9,000 feet. I kept moving lower and lower in elevation each weekend and was a week or so behind them. Never saw one during the season, but the sign was all concentrated around streams with oak. I tried sitting on some ponds in otherwise dry areas with no success. I expect similar conditions this season if we aren’t on fire. Hunt lower and much thicker terrain than you want to. If the sign is not immediately fresh, then they have moved through and are long gone from the area.
