Colorado imminent domain for wolves

Yeah…. Not sure if this was posted but Colorado seems to think that the solution to wolf/cattle issues and conflicts is to buy the ranches where this is occurring. It would be voluntary at first, then by imminent domain.

I have a solution for the wolves that would ensure people don’t lose their ranches….

The problem in the concept is that the wolf - cattle conflict is in having a food source on the ranch. Not in the ownership. Get rid of the rancher - you get rid of the food source. The wolves will then move to the next food source.

I'm currently having to urge herds of elk out of my field that I recently plowed and seeded. The elk are attracted to the tender green foliage (and a little clover). If the gov buys me out to avoid the conflict, the quality of forage degrades to the natural habitat and the elk move on. Everyone loses! Everything the government touches goes to hell.

Absolutely, I found a great house just north of Cortez about 10 years ago. Almost pulled the trigger, glad I did not. I could see the influence coming from the west coast a real bummer. Used to love Elk hunting up there. Won't spend a dime now.

I would argue that the common good is better served by retaining the viability of the ranchers rather than trying to return to some bygone era. Humans have as much right to the land as wildlife. Maybe it isnt perfectly balanced but I will vehemently disagree with any notion that humans don’t belong.

To believe that humans are some kind of creature that is outside of the food chain and really outside of the existence of everything apparently is pretty wild to me. Like you supposedly love and study nature and watch natural interactions all the time and then go, welp those 2 legged animals don’t belong anywhere except for in massive confined buildings and concrete structures. Oh and don’t worry we will be able to get food from the grocery stores where it’s made duh!

Amen, I get the feeling that these folks don’t adhere to natural order or belief in a Creator… ironically if they get their supposed way, they might get a first hand chance to witness natural order in action a la blood meridian style…

Had a neighbor running cattle on FS. Lost 34 head on one unit and 19 head on the one nearest me. Dept of Ag killed 11 of the 12 wolves and elk hunting has improved greatly. Indirectly the grazing has solved some wolf issues in Montana. USFWS needs to be greatly modified or elimonated. Maybe then grizzly bears would quit migrating into areas where no habitat exists.
