Denver area FNG. I've been on a 3 Elk hunts total- rifle and archery. still looking for the first successful trip, but anytime in the outdoors is enjoyable. I received a hand me down Hoyt complete setup. Its a little tall compared to the new bows, but it still shoots great. I have an old pump action 30-06 that is also a gift from a family member and that hog is heavy. I'm planning to secure a newer, light weight 270 or 308 bolt action with quality glass for next seasons rifle tags.

Also Denver area. What unit/seasons have you been hunting? Also, there are several places around town that can help you with a rifle/glass.

I've been all over the place with regards to unit/ seasons. Mostly whatever seems like it will work with the schedule that year.
I use Triple J in Littleton for all my rifle/ glass needs. Good service and their new range is pretty nice. The range is 25 yards, so not a long rifle range by any means, but still nice to get some trigger time- regardless of the platform.

Shameless plug for Triple J, JD is great. I remember when they were operating out of his garage.

Welcome! I am a CO - FNG as well... just finished my last day yesterday on a late rifle season tag, with many successful days of "gun-hiking". Learned a lot!

Whiskey- I like the name! Have you been to the LAWS tasting room? Its a top notch distillery. They have Bear Creek down the way with great cocktails, too. If you're in Arvada, I bet i'm only about 10min from you at work, 70& Ward.
