Looks like most of the units in Colorado have deadfall from the beetle kill

I hunted 18 rifle 2 last year and hiked in with some friends who hunted archery. Didn't get any Elk but one of us got a Doe. We also did a lot of weekend scouting trips in the summer.

Don't hammock camp, there are way to many dead trees to camp in or near the tree's safely. We heard a tree fall near us on a calm sunny day. Three out of four trees are dead and the forest is thick.

Hiking is really tough where we went because the trails are covered with dead trees. It's really easy to lose the trail because you follow a trail around the fallen trees and it takes you in some other direction. You think your on the trail until it disappears and you check your GPS and your a half mile in the wrong directions.

Learn mtn survival skills. Take multiple navigation, fire starting, and water purifying systems with you. Get in good hiking with weight shape.
