I had a bear tag this year in Colorado, after 8 years hunting a unit and seeing bears consistently, this year we got skunked. Looked all all the berries and nuts were not present this year. Anyone have a similar experience? Warden said they were all in town.

I talked to someone last week that said they saw bears down low (close to town) all summer then after the rains they seemed to head back up the mountains.

We plan to get my daughter a bear tag for 1st rifle. I doubt we see one but we have options that way.

ETA: to be clear, I’m not a bear hunter. I know nothing about bear hunting. Just relaying what a local told me.

I hunted SW Colorado for bear this fall and didn't even cut a track or scat. No berries/acorns and springs were dry. Creeks were dried up too. Still a fun trip to a part of the state I hadn't been to.

I saw a single bear for 10 seconds this year in Colorado. I hunted the same area I have for the past 8 years and it was very different this year. I didn’t see much of anything outside of chipmunks and birds.

Have had a steady stream of bears around the neighborhood at 6800ft in SW CO. More acorns and berries than I would have thought end of September.

This little guy is about as wide as he is tall, pretty sure I passed on him during season when he was w a sow and a cub. Haven’t seen the sow in a few weeks, but keep catching him on camera.

I was warned by the Game Warden there was a late May freeze and berries and acorns were scarce. I checked every oak patch I came across and nothing and never saw a berry. I put quite a few miles on by foot and side by side.

I should say, that was one very specific area where I was seeing acorns and berries on my neighbor’s place, none on my property. Lots of fruit trees in our area to keep them fed.
