Thankfully it looks like the temperatures will be dropping around Arapaho National Forest. I just don’t like hot weather while hunting.

We are headed to Idaho in a few days. First night in camp looks like possible single digits . Cold for some dudes from Mississipi, it was 100 degrees here this week. Can’t wait!!!

Just looked, should be right around 1* for the overnight low Friday night where we’ll be camping. Awesome. Shows around 4* the next night, but then returning to low teens the rest of the season. But it will be dry, making fires to stay warm won’t be a problem!

There calling for a few inches of snow to fall Thursday where we are heading. It will be a huge change from our current weather. Opening morning should be perfect.

Looks like it may be snowing Thursday when we are heading up the mountain. Hopefully not!!!

I saw they issued a "Special Weather Statement" yesterday morning. Right after that depending on what forecast you looked at it was anywhere from 1"-4"+. But today, they have all reigned it in looks like(for the area around Meeker at least) to around 1" or less.

One thing is for sure, our lows we are experiencing here in Arkansas right now will be struggling to be the highs where we are going from what it looks like. That's a huge change. Single-digit lows for the upper elevations they say.

LOL, last year their was not supposed to be any moisture and our area got over a foot of snow opening weekend first rifle. Its Colorado folks, the weather doesn't know what the hell its doing, let alone the weather man.

Camping down low and day hunting up high is going to be a shock to the system temperature wise in itself, let along coming from where it’s in the 70’s and 80’s. Was able to talk my wife into a first elk hunt g trip disguised as an anniversary vacation with our new camper, so I’ll be warm at least at night

This picture was taken Thursday morning at 11,000 ft. The pond I grabbed the ice from was completely open the day before. Keeping meat cool shouldn't be an issue this year, you staying warm might be one though. One thing of note - the point forecast (weeather.gov, use the map to find your exact area for a point forecast) showed lows in the 20s; reality was lows in the teens and single digits with high winds. Pack warm; I would've been coming out if I didn't bring a 0* bag.

Its Colorado in October...the dumb weather forecasts really mean nothing. It could be 80 degrees or zero, could snow or you could get sun burnt. And all that might occur in the same day. Just pack for everything and you'll b e fine

There are multiple wildfires burning in CO, and multiple countywide fire bans in place. Cold weather won't change that, only moisture will. Here is the current fire ban info:

If I see a fire ban violation I report it immediately.

I called this fire in on Tuesday, spotted it from a ridgeline over 20 miles away. Sarvis Fire I really hope it wasn't started by someone leaving embers in a campfire before the winds picked up.

To anyone new to CO (or that lives here and didn't know) please know what a Red Flag Warning is:
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior
