Cold Bow 2026 QnA Thread

Please keep it going regardless of the prizes.
It always shows that what you think you can shoot, and what you CAN actually shoot are very different.
I shot TAC IN/KY this year and thought I was shooting decent. Not the case when I only got 1 shot a day.

Prizes aside, I agree this is worthwhile. Already planning on next year, adding in elevation and shooting from the knees or with a pack on. Real-world application. It's only right to know what I'm actually capable of

you're welcome!

So you guys saying we should do this next year?

We ran it 10 years and always wondering if it's ran it's course or if it's truly helping guys know their MER?

Or is it just the great prizes that keep it going?

I’m doing the Exo Experience Challenge right now and have been impressed with how that’s running, similar to the CBC in that it’s not a competition, but definitely a lot of accountability required.

Maybe next year we can take some aspects of what they did well there and apply it here? Just a thought to spice it up!

I also vote to continue it. For me, the prize is a nice bonus but the stress/pressure of making a good first hit with a BROADHEAD is the real value.

Last year was my first time with the CBC. My bow was shooting darts all spring with field points and I had done well in a 3D shoot just prior. However, when I went to shoot broadheads for the CBC the wheels fell off and I missed the target completely, losing an arrow for the first time in years.

That led me down a long rabbit hole of broadhead tuning and ultimately changing my arrow spine and broadheads to better match my draw weight/length and be much more forgiving.

This year I’m happy to say that same setup inspired by missing last year led to every shot being in the target and 2/3 hitting the simulated vitals.

Keep it going, it’s a valuable learning experience for those that struggle!

Like others, I like the challenge and the purpose behind it. Creates accountability and forces a person to assess their skills.

hey, we'll always consider ways to make it better, but main thing is we have to be able to handle it on the backend. I'd wager my staff and me put 30 hours in this project yearly, and we'd prefer that go down, not up. I feel like our rules are already pretty long but we've learned if they're not, the wheels fall off and it get confusing for everyone.

what do you think we could incorporate?

And to everyone else who chimed in, thank you! If it's making us better archers with lower wounding losses, that's just good for our sport.

Also, my wife's on the way to the UPS store right now to ship out these bad boys:

https://outdoorsmans.com/products/zeiss-sfl-12x50 to @evan97 the lucky dog!

And to the Texan Dwarf meme generator we don't even need to tag becuase he's always on here looking for meme opps anyway.... https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/argali-serac-magnacut-review-updated-3-14-26.399684/

It's one of the funnest things we do around here is send out prizes!!! so next time we lock a thread or ban a troll, remember the good we do too.

and my notes show that all the winners have claimed their prizes and have been connected with the sponsors. If I missed anyone, hit me in a DM
