Cold Bow 2026 QnA Thread

@darrenk75b welcome to the CBC and good opening shot (post #96)

you mentioned let-off on your hunting bow vs target bow.

Something I've always wondered, my old Martin was 65% let-off and when these new bows came out with like 80/85%, I'm not convinced I'm shooting better. Yes, I can hold longer, but muy accuracy isn't much different. Is this just in my head or will less let-off help a guy shoot better?

Less activation/reliance on the stronger, more stable back muscles? I could get behind that theory.

I shoot a Reckoning Target bow at 60lbs and a Solution hunting bow at 70lbs. The let off on the Reckoning has no creep and a higher holding weight than the Solution. I shoot it much better for sure but I wouldn't want to have to hold it vey long waiting for an animal to position right.

Got my 2nd shot in finally, I think I am going to reevaluate my sight after this cold bow. I also want to try the small wire stabilizer instead of the beer stinger bar combo I have.

I have started putting the stats together about 50% of the way through.

Everything is tracking pretty close to the previous year. The biggest differences so far are that the Hit mode has changed from 2 to 3 and the Hit average is about .25 higher.

We will see if the late bloomers can bring that down.

All right, Corb I was hoping you would take this on, just hadn’t had time to reach out. I thought it was trending a little more accurate too. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Thanks again.

Holding weight (less letoff) is generally more forgiving.

Low holding weight and its pretty easy to push the string around with your nose.

I prefer an aggressive backwall, keeps me honest.

The letoff % is just a suggestion 🤣
String/cable lengths you can kinda get what you want.

For me, the higher holding weight requires me to be a bit more engaged in my shot and less prone to creeping forward. Another thing, the higher holding weight results in higher string tension at full draw, reducing slightly the effects of face pressure, etc. on the string. Ultimately a bit more forgiving. But, for a hunting bow where you may need to stay at full draw, the higher letoff is certainly an advantage. I've been shooting my target bow almost solely the last few months before the CBC, so the switch to my hunting bow was VERY noticeable.
