Cold Bow 2026 QnA Thread

Been practicing at 60 yards, trying stabilizers no stabilizers, ect. My MER is defiantly less than 60, but I think I’m going to try 60 for the challenge just for kicks!

In the challenge when using mechanicals can you use the practice head? Or do you need to use the head that deploys when it hits the target?

I look forward to watching the challenge this year, but likely won't be shooting since I tore my bicep off at the shoulder 3weeks ago. My only hope is I'll be able to shoot by June or mid summer. Good luck to everyone!

hey all just a few updates/ questions.

@CO Backcountry Precision (CBP) is going to offer up his cabins at a steep discount for anyone traveling through those dates and shooting. Watch for his post on here.

Also, a question on the CBP shooters and how to handle their entries.

We don't expect a bunch of guys (please surprise us!) who can shoot and get the extra entry but we're mostly doing this to bring attention to the big attacks against hunting in Colorado, and bring support to Dan Gates/CRWM, but was wondering if it's better to:

1) leave the rule as is: guys shooting the course aren't held to the one-arrow/day rule for that shooting day, but just post their first arrow for that day. Downside is they don't really get to test themselves in the spirit of the challenge like everyone else.

2) or would it be better to just hold these course shooters a spot in the challenge (in the event it fills up before they can post) and then they can do the 1/arrow/day at their convenience (within reason) and get the extra entry?

Don't want to overcomplicate things but do want to protect the spirit of the challenge.

What do you all think?

Option 2 of giving a place holder makes a lot of sense and follows closer to the spirit of the cbc. Allow a week’s grace to get their first shot on the board after the shoot.

Let's just hold them a spot. They post they'll be attending the 3D shoot on the first line.

Second line will be the copy/paste of this complete table of what their equipment will be for the Cold Bow Challenge and thier declared Maximum Effective Range.

User Name :Bow Brand-
Bow Model-
Sight Brand-
BH Brand-
MER-
Hit (X/3) -

I do think we have a stipulation that if you post you'll be attending the 3D fund raiser and don't attend you'll lose one chance in the prize drawing.
I'll double check the list after the shoot is over.

Leave as is and don't make a bunch of extra work for whoever is checking entries.

1) those participants can take into account they aren't cold and create more challenging shots
2) the shots aren't scored or any sort of competition other than internally. So, what they do doesn't change the true outcome for others or themselves.
3) I "assume" that whatever the extra shoot is, isn't with broad heads, so they aren't 100% practiced up.

Gosh, Kyle, I didn’t even think about the broadheads! I’m sure CBP isn’t gonna want broadhead’s stuffed into their brand new Reinhardt targets. Thanks for chiming in man.

I see you other guys post up there too, and I’m kind of leaning that way. Holding a spot, That would solve the broadhead issue too.

Then really, the only exception to our rules would be you can’t hold a spot unless you’re on the CBP course one of those four days.

Glad I asked you guys.
