Coffee makers and grinders

Just curious what other people use as far as coffee makers and grinders. Currently I’m using a Bunn Speed brew platinum thermal and a krupps electric blade grinder.

There are some pros to the Bunn for sure. It brews really fast and I find the insulated pot is nice to take into my office full and refill my cup without having to make trips back and forth. I also find that the coffee tastes a bit more fresh if it’s in the pot for an extended amount of time.

The grinder has served me well for as cheap as it is but you don’t get consistent grind size.

The downside to the Bunn is I’ve found that the grind needs to be extremely fine in order to get bold coffee flavor. Coarse grinds will result in a pretty weak coffee. Basically I feel kinda stuck to one way of brewing with the current set up.

I will say that I’m not disappointed in the coffee that is made but was just curious of other setups people are using when buying whole bend and what your experiences are.

If you upgrade your grinder, what’s your budget?

How about best bang for your buck. I have no idea what they cost. Side more on the lesser expensive since I was thinking of asking for one as a gift.

I’m too much of a tight ass to buy a new coffee grinder for myself. I’d rather save for something hunting related. Although I’m pretty much stocked up there too.

I just need a bigger house. lol

I got the Capresso burr grinder from Costco for around $100 when Costco removed their grinders from the stores. Of course, I paired it with a Cuisinart drip coffee maker from Costco which was around $50.
Costco dark roast beans.
Simple and easy.

Does your coffee maker brew in spurts or slow? Mine basically runs hot water over grinds at a constant stream which is nice when you want coffee on the go.

I use a french press with a HadinEEo variable speed, stainless steel grinder in low gear for a coarse grind.
I'm not the biggest fan of coffee makers as they produces a relatively "dry" coffee vs. the rich, oiliness of a french press. Of course, its a slower process.

Considering I drink coffee by the pot I don’t think a French press would serve me well. I do like coffee out of a French press though.

We just have a $45 Costco Mr Coffee. We have three of the Oxo burr grinders in the family with no complaints. Ours has been used twice a day for the last three years. Fill it with beans, set the coarseness, adjust the volume desired, and hitting the button. I can see how it would be nice to have a fancy grinder built into the coffee pot, but for the price it works great.

I have one of these grinders, been using it for like 10 years and it's awesome.

I use a cuisinart single batch grinder and a plastic thing to hold the filter over the cup. Boil water in a tea pot. Let it cool just a tad so its not scorching. Fresh pour over frsh ground single batch beans drip for every cup. Its really no slower than a big automated pot dripper. Makes great coffee everytime if you got good beans.

For a drip machine the Technivorm Moccamaster. There is a knockoff called simply good coffee I believe. The moccamaster is kinda pricey but brews very very good drip coffee and does it quickly. Amazon usually has then way cheaper for Black Friday or look for one used.

I have a Rancilio grinder which is way more than I’d ever spend but it was a gift and works very well.

Cuisinart coffee machine (on second one), and Braun spice grinder. I grind my coffee pretty fine.

I was given A 350$ Williams’s Sonoma type maker with a grinder on top and couldn’t get rid of it fast enough. Too much mess, non-heated carafe, inconsistent results.

Flavor comes from fresh ground whole beans.

with this grinder and whole dark roast beans, our coffee is noticeably better. Wouldn't be without it now.

That kitchenaid is intriguing. My wife has a blender and all the attachments and I just upgraded the dishwasher since I remodeled the kitchen. I’ve had zero complaints with any of their products. The dishwasher is amazing fyi and super quiet.

I’m liking the drip machine. They have an insulated carafe option as well!

I use a lido hand grinder. You can get a much higher quality grind from a $150 hand grinder than a $150 electric. To brew I most often do pour over though sometimes use an aeropress. Have the settings for eached marked on the grinder with a pain pen.

I do like pour overs and have 2 or 3 pour over devices. I used to make them every day. I do get pour overs at the local coffee shop sometimes. Now i use my Bonavita. I may make a pour over tomorrow.
