So i have a dilemma about an outfitter i posted a review about last fall. Cody Carr`s Hunting Adventures. The people that know me and the many people I have hunted with know me and my personality. I always try my best to post my experiences on hunts, whether outfitted or DIY. After my rifle elk hunt with Cody Carr last November, i decided to post a review on Bowsite. I thought it out and did my best to describe exactly how the hunt unfolded. It took Cody a long time to reply. He called me a couple days ago to discuss the review and asked me to delete it and rewrite it more favorably. He even offered to refund part of my hunting costs. I declined on both counts. One, i will not post a review that is not true. I feel anyone looking for a review should get the truth. Secondly, i have never asked nor taken any refunds on an outfitted hunt. I just take it as a lesson learned. Unfortunately, after the phone conversation with Cody, he took it upon himself to write a reply that was extremely inaccurate. The information he posted does not match my review and is mostly outright lies. I am posting this to help anyone on a google search that may find this post. It is a shame that outfitters can just post any sort of mistruths and nothing can be done about it. If anyone would like to discuss my elk hunt or would like information about Cody's operation, feel free to call me at 828 674 6752. Here is a link for the review and his reply.

This guy had a shitty reputation for the most part. Good for you posting an honest review that may prevent others from paying for a substandard hunt.

Can you add this info to your Bowsite review? Seems pretty relevant.

Sorry to read this. Worst thing a guide can do is offer tit for tat on the Internet. Best thing he could have done was acknowledge your disappointment and offer you a free trip. If it was that bad he’d be safe in knowing that you’d never come back anyway, or he could have made a customer for life if you did. Instead he looks like an asshole. You’re either a hero or a zero in the guiding biz, so the service and customer respect better be top notch.

He might be in for learning a tough lesson here.

No, thats the issue. Bowsite does not allow for a reply to an outfitter. But if you look at all the negative reviews out there, he usually replies that its the hunters fault.

Holy shit did that guy rip on you. I am pretty shocked he went that personal with it..

Me too, he was pretty upset that i would not retract my review. Not even sure that is an option anyway.

You might try to contact Brian (if I remember correctly don't really visit there anymore) owner of Bowsite. An outfitter trying to buy a better review on his site might be of interest to him.

I wouldn't worry about it. Anybody that reads bowsite site reviews will see that there are ton of negative reviews for the guy and take his reply with a grain of salt.

I don’t know Mr Carr personally, but I grew up in the same town and still know folks there. My local contacts concur with KHNC’s description of his experience and Mr Carr’s behavior.

Again I ask... What is an 'Outfitter'?

LOL, i know i know, sometimes us east coast guys have to learn the hard way. I used outfitters exclusively when i first came west in 2001-2006. Now i try my damndest to DIY! I have met some great people in my travels. Very lucky to have a few SOLID guys i hunt with. CNELK, maybe one of these days we will get together for a hunt somewhere.

I know a group that went with him for rifle this fall. Not one elk was seen in the week long hunt. They said the food was good but the hunts are a complete joke.

Yeah, thats what John was saying. That fire made a mess of things last fall! All the roads got closed. Maybe NEXT year we all will have a tag!
