Coaxial vs rock chucker

Anyone found a difference or benefit to going to a coaxial f/a compared to the rcbs rock chucker I already have?

Looking for another press to simplify my reloading.

I don't do pistol calibers or high volume plinking reloading. I'm generally doing short action varmit rounds or simular 223 to 6.5 creed.

I looked into this a while back and ended up keeping the rock chucker. I didn’t see a benefit when the rock chucker has done so well for me. I think Ultimate Reloader did a video comparing several presses a while back and the rock chucker did pretty well

Benefits will be not having to adjust dies with the lock rings to some degree and not needing shellholders.

Do they make auto ejectors yet for co-ax presses? If not, they are a downgrade in my eyes.

I have never used the Rock Chucker, but I love how the Coax allows you to quickly change from one die to the other in seconds and was the selling point for me. I don’t think you can go wrong with either though.

I can change my dies in my rock chucker in about 5 seconds. Without a bushing. I’ve never found that to be an issue. For those that use a coaxial press, how do you hold the brass if you don’t need a shell holder

Been using a Rock Chucker to make precision ammo since '75. I might go to a coax when it wears out ....if I don't first.

You can change it in 5 seconds back to .002 shoulder bump without adjusting? Or precise seating depth? That's the difference. It's not just screwing it in.

The coaxial presses have a couple different size split collets that grab the cases as you run the lever.

Yes I can, with multiple die sets.

Sorry, my reply was a bit snarky - if you haven’t seen a coax, a photo or quick review video is a great way to see how it works without a shell holder.

I’ve seen them, just never paid attention to how it grips the case.

I like it until I'm loading 7prc long. Then it's a pita to get the cases out.

If you already have a Rockchucker and are happy with it I would not change to the Co-Ax.

But if you are buying a new press to start from scratch I would absolutely get the Co-Ax over the Rockchucker.
