Odds are you will have more problems with Yellow jackets. They find those critters fast...

The only time I left an elk in Co for a couple hours to go get my frame pack, that just gave the Yellowjackets time to find it...miserable processing job with 300 of those things swarming around- and that was a rainy day. I can't imagine what it would have been like if it was sunny.

If you are willing to carry the weight of the spray then go for it! Like others have said depends on where you are and the temperatures.

I don't think I've seen a mosquito in the 10 years I've been going to CO. Too arid in the area we hunt.

Planning on going to CO in Sept for the first time and wondering what mosquitos are like that time of year? Typically a whitetail hunter and use a thermacell in the tree saddle. Wasn’t sure if it would be worth having in the pack or if it’s a waste.
For the most part mosquitos aren't problem unless you camp or ground blind hunt along a swampy or marshy areas. It is reasonable to expect sub-30 degrees overnight temps in CO during Sept..

FYI with the warm and mostly dry spring/ early summer mosquitoes are not bad at all this year
Ha! I was camping off 285 this weekend. As bad as I’ve EVER seen them. I’m talking hordes. First spot we tried, I got out of the truck and got bit 20 plus times in 5 minutes.

We've had a lot of rain in the last few days in the Durango area. I was out in the high country yesterday scouting around and the mosquitos were annoying, but not crazy. I never have any real issues with mosquitoes by the time Sept is here. They usually aren't even much of a problem at night during the summer

No issues with mosquitos during mid-late September over the last 4 years (9,200' - 12,200'). Lots of big ants cruising around. Never got bit... but was happy I didn't go with a floorless tent.
