Hi all so last year i hunted gmu 24 without any scouting or any information and came home empty handed as to be expected, instead of hunting the pass like I should have I went further down the mountain and didn't see anything but old sign and a moose. I'm looking for general info on the unit and what to look for when e-scouting it any tips or advice is appreciated.

Hey all - this is my first post and I’m looking for specific information on a unit. I also didn’t bother to do a search regarding e-scouting best practices because there are 270 threads already on it and plenty of resources for free on YouTube.

These posts are getting old and seem to be every 4th thread within a sub forum.

You already hunted it. Why are you asking for handouts. Build on what you learned or if it sucked then go somewhere else. The flat tops are over hunted by deer, elk, and bear hunters. There’s lots of elk and lots of hunters. Getting away from people is impossible and after the first volley of shots most elk head for private.

Well i was unaware so idk what you expect me to say to that?

That’s part of the problem - not doing research on your own

not looking for handouts, watched youtube that just say "water" "food" "sanctury" when that describes the whole unit my man i'm asking as a new elk hunter what kind of food? what does sanctuary look like etc truly no need to get salty over someone asking a question.

You already know where they weren’t. That’s a step towards finding them. No one here is going to tell you where they find elk in said unit. Go back and keep crossing spots off the list until you find them.

Once you find them, blow them out, find them again, hit a branch, go home for a year, come back again, find them for a third time and some yahoo that found some info on rokslide blows them out, you’ll understand why people don’t give out free handouts on open Internet forums.

Good luck.
