CO Draw Changes 2028

Am I missing something here? Wouldn't you be able to keep your hunt planned by utilizing the surrender period on the off chance you do happen to draw before you intend to hunt?

Yeah, in the near term I'm expecting a few years that remind us of trying to buy toilet paper in 2020 with everyone rushing to dump their points before they get devalued in 2028. Then we'll see what the new normal is after that levels out.

Thanks for your input. All great points. I also expect the middle point holders saving for 5-10 point tags in today's system to get screwed over to some extent. I don't personally care about the trophy units, but if the units that are 5-10 points today become much less attainable despite a small chance of pulling a random, that will be disappointing.
I hope it levels out, I could have drawn the unit I wanted last year with 5 points, but I thought I would be closer to building a house last year. Still haven't started house and wouldn't have drawn it with 6 this year. If it keeps going to crap, I'll probably burn em to do the same hunt we've been doing second choice that perhaps won't ever draw out second choice again....

I really don’t know, but I don’t worry about everyone else. That probably sounds self centered or arrogant, but it’s the truth. I only hunt in my home state and don’t hunt anywhere else. It makes it simple for me.
So I started diversifying a few years ago into other states (WY, NV, AZ, MT) because I can see the writing on the wall. Opportunities in CO for residents may start dwindling in the coming years. I definitely can't afford to do outfitted/landowner tags in state or out of state every year so gotta put in for the points!
