More on this:

The Colorado Senate Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee saw eye-to-eye with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and its partner organizations in rejecting the nomination of two of three Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission nominees.
On identical 4-to-3 votes, the panel rejected recommending confirmation of Jessica Beaulieu and Gary Skiba, both appointed by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, to represent state park users and sportspersons respectively. Beaulieu is manager of the University of Denver’s Animal Law Program, which aims to “protect the interests and well-being of non-human animals.”

In 2022 prior to her appointment, she testified in favor of legislation to undermine the commission by banning mountain lion hunting by legislative order, a bill RMEF strongly opposed. Beaulieu was also a fellow at the Center for Biological Diversity, a well-known anti-hunting group. Skiba is best known as an advocate for the forced introduction of wolves into Colorado, was part of a group who filed suit against California to list wolves and is a member of Defenders of Wildlife, another anti-hunting organization.

According to a letter submitted prior to the hearing by RMEF and 19 other conservation, hunting, farming and civic groups, “the nominees’ lack of broad recreational management experience, demonstrated objections towards holistic science-based wildlife management and the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, and limited engagement and experience with the relationship between private land management, are of significant concern.”

The letter also highlighted the appointees’ “apparent biases” and “broader concerns regarding governance, transparency and the future path of Colorado Parks and Wildlife.”

Gov. Polis received broad criticism when making the appointments in July 2023, including a scathing rebuke from hunter, angler and RMEF life member Grant Jerry, who testified before the commission shortly after the initial appointments.

“We will not stand aside as powerful anti-hunting groups veiled as animal rights advocates attempt to dismantle and discredit the North American Model and exclude hunters from wildlife management while slowly whittling away at hunting opportunities for Coloradans,” said Jerry. “Even within this commission, I’ve heard commissioners openly disparage hunters and seek to perpetuate misinformed, negative stereotypes of hunters.”

While rejecting Beaulieu and Skiba, the committee voted 4-to-3 to recommend the commission confirmation of John “Jack” Murphy.

It is important to note the “no” votes are not binding. They are merely a recommendation to the full Colorado Senate where all candidates will still be debated.

Exactly! Which is why we need to hammer them with emails and calls! Maybe we can pull a W out of this…

Someday hunters will start to understand that hunting/2A (it’s the same fight) is under attack from every single angle possible. Many states are getting “anti’s” on the commissions for one specific reason while most hunters sit there with their thumbs up their ass arguing about tag allocations. This has been and will continue to be a fight we all will need to engage in but unfortunately I think most hunters are asleep at the wheel.

Don’t think this won’t eventually come to your state! Division and inaction will be the death of our sport.

Hate to tell you, but the writing is on the wall. As long as Polis is governor they will never let up. You should be pushing for a bill that eliminates ballot box biology. They will just nominate two other anti- hunters instead. They have thousands to choose from.

My senator isn't on the list. But he is a republican and former wildlife officer. I am pretty sure I don't have to convince him, but will call and thank him for his no votes in advance.

My Senator was, but I typed a little email up about how I’m an independent voter and done with this state, being openly hostile to sportsmen and Science and then I blasted it to all of them, made the subject do not confirm Skiba or Beaulieu. Just copy pasta to all of them they don’t need to know if you live in their district or not, or just say that you do, even better

Sadly they probably will still vote them in. Their precious liberal agenda is much more important than the people they supposedly represent. Plus now they know you aren't a liberal, and didn't vote for them so they will probably vote yes out of spite at the least. I am ready to move to one of our 3 northern neighboring states.

For sure, which is why I tell them I’m an independent, and was voting democrat, but won’t anymore, not like they probably read any of them, but hell it’s a nice story

I mean, they are probably dumb enough to believe it. You can convince them a guy with a wig and lipstick on is a woman, so surely you can convince them of about anything. I will put an email together and shoot it to all of them too. I will claim to be a trans woman who enjoys hunting. That will get their attention.
