I've been focusing on mule deer for a number of years just trying to build points up for elk after a specific unit following a buddies hunt and I can finally say that I have the points that should allow me in and now I'm dreaming of screaming bulls and not of velvet clad mule deer! It's a HUGE change from the norm as anyone who knows me can attest! And while I should still have a high country mule deer tag in my pocket that won't be my focus for the first time in years!

My first love is early season mulies with a bow or smoke pole but next season I will be doing what you are doing this year. I will be hunting elk during the archery season and deer during a late rifle season. I think it is nice to change it up every once in a while. Good luck this year.
