CO 89 Dispersed Camping

Will be in Unit 89 for antelope in October. I’m looking for assistance in finding a place to truck camp while I’m there. Any decent places to stay? Prefer dispersed camping if possible.

Seems like a wretched place to camp, honestly.

I would probably just get a room in Sterling. The Holiday inn there is pretty nice. If you're set on camping, I would setup at the state park.

The public sections of grass lands are national forest property, you can just setup on any that look suitable to you. If you literally are truck camping (vs setting up a camp) just stop wherever you feel like on public for the night, that's all I've ever done when run and gun hunting.

Over in 88 there is the pawnee buttes trailhead which I've seen folks camping on the plateau right near there.

Besides maximizing the rules on various public, it's always worth checking out Freecampsites.net - sometimes you'll find a gem, other times not so much. The website looks like it was created the day after the internet was born but it works pretty good for what it is.
