Good morning all -

I recently purchased a Remington 40X 22LR from CMP. DISCLAIMER: I serve on the CMP board of directors. This was my first 40X and I'm really happy with the experience. This rifle was built in 1934 and is in remarkably good condition. I removed the irons, mounted a Burris XTR IIIi 3 - 18 FFP, scrubbed the bore with Iossa, replaced the trigger spring with a lighter option, and went to the range with a couple boxes of CCI Standard 22LR ammo.

This thing will shoot! Avg. MV was 1062.8 FPS. SD for 89 shots over Garmin chrono was 12.0. We were able to get hits on steel out to 600 yards in a shifty breeze. There's a lot to be said for a geriatric rifle that shoots this well. Mericuh!

Nice!

I have a 341-P and a 513T - both with peep sights - and one of my joys in life is to sit and plink steel with a box of CCI SV with them. I'm terrible with peep sights but I enjoy it anyway. I have newer rifles with scopes for the entire spectrum of fun things you can do with .22lr (from squirrels to ELR) but I enjoy my old prewar Remingtons immensely.
