Hey team, Im an Aussie guy but i love making what i think are classic American meals at home. Things like biscuits and sausage gravy, chicken fried steak and cornbread ( i mean no disrespect if they’re not to you). Has anyone got any classic dishes you grew up on that you want share that i can try? I'm sure there are heaps of gems out there iv never heard of. Double points for wild game though i pretty much just have venison, wild pig and some ducks here

Chicken n dumplings, where the dumplings are actually more like the thickest/longest/gnarliest egg noodles you've ever seen in your life. I wish I had a picture to share. I've never seen them made the same way by anyone other than my mother, who got it from her grandmother in law.

Squirrel n Dumplins.

I know you can find some type of varmint over there that resembles squirrel
Probably rabbit but there not easy to find like they once were because of the mixamotosis and caleche virus

is this like a stew type thing?

American style smoked bacon. Had some of what they called bacon in Europe and it was not even close to the same.
Is your bacon cooked or just brined and raw? Our stuff is like pre cooked that you then fry in a pan but i have seen videos of Americans with bacon and it looks soft like raw meat when they fry it.

I make my own and after curing and smoking and slicing it does look raw. It's fried or baked until crispy and delicious.

Corncakes (pancake made from cornbread batter) with butter and fresh sliced tomatoes
Pinto beans with chopped onions
Fried country ham
Coleslaw

This is one of my favorite meals- I’m from the mountains of western Virginia
