Christensen Rifles what are your guy's thoughts?

I’ve heard a lot of the complaints, have three ridgelines. All three have been reliable, great shooting rifles.

I have 2 CA FFT Ti rifles. a 308 Winchester and a 7PRC. The 308 is a consistent 1/2" shooter or less with several different factory loads and the 7PRC is consistent 3/4" shooter with Hornady ammo but I'm ready to try the Federal Premium ammo tomorrow. It's supposed to be much better. I would buy 2 more every day of the week. I would put that 308 up against anyone's Tikka....or any other builders lightweight hunting rifle. The rifle weighs right at 5lbs with the titanium brake. BTW...those groups are with one of those garbage Leupolds. LOL. Tikka's are a $500 rifle selling for double.

I really wanted to get a CA at one point, but I couldn't get over the mixed reviews I kept hearing of bad rifles that didn't shoot. I don't have the time to risk in dealing with and getting rid of a problem.

Yeah The reviews are definitely mixed, some forums absolutely hate them and others seem to say they're decent.

I ran a poll a while back of whether they group and found that 30% of owner say they don’t group.

I’m curious. Did your Christensen Arms group out of the box?

I’ve seen some bad publicity about them being over priced junk but i kind of wanted to see the numbers.

You pulled the rifle out of the box, slapped a scope on and torqued everything down. Did/does it group?

I have two Ridgelines in 6.5 CM. One is the Ti version. Both are 1/2” or better with Hornady Precision Hunter 143 ELD-X. I don’t bother to hand load for them.

Wait for the Xbolt 2

Have two experiences with Christensen. One I was helping a buddy put a scope on his ridgeline. When we torqued the pic down to 20 inlbs it would not allow the bolt to close without some effort as it would cause bolt to rub on the raceway. We tried another rem 700 bolt in the action and didn't have any issues so I believe the bolt was defective. Not sure what Christensen did to fix this issue. Another buddy bought a carbon barrel ridgeline in 300 win mag. 5 shots would go in about a 1 moa circle but 6th shot and on would start to walk considerably. That seems to be common for carbon fiber barrels though, once they heat up, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have 3. All my experiences have been good. All shoot well, and all will go under one inch no problem. I have one that is an exceptional shooter. It is a 300 RUM. That thing will print a 5 shot clover leaf at 100 yards from a steady bench. It is just death incarnate with a 212 grain ELDX.

I have two. Both are Ridgeline FFTs. One is a 7 mag and the other is a 300 WM. They both shoot VERY well.

There are some downsides however. Both rifles have a a heavy cocking on the bolt lift after a shot. Not ideal for follow-up shots. This is a Christiansen thing.

The other issue is on the 300WM. It is a very light rifle and is quite a bit to handle shooting a full house 215 Berger load. I don’t care for the stock. I have a Stocky’s VG in the mail as I type this headed to my house to remedy this issue.

my boss has a messa in 300 wm and he loves it. We live on the east coast and he travels all the way west to Colorado and north to British Columbia and many stops between hunting and he’s not had an issue with it.

I bought a ridgeline fft in 300wm and it has shelved all my other bolt guns. The break on it is really nice, the action is glass and it just shoots. I’ve used hand loads and commercial loads, and it groups any of the weights I’ve sent through it.

Forums can be funny, my Christensen arms sports a Leupold vx5-hd. And it wasn’t till I came here that I realized how shitty my set up was. If that makes sense. It’s like going to a certain part of the country and how the farmers in that area use a certain brand tractor and everything else is shit. Go to another area of the country and shitty brand of tractor is the gold standard.

Every brand of anything will have some issues. Christensen arms was very good at communication and follow through w me as I probably harassed them when they had the purchase order for my rifle as I was trying to get it for the last week of hunting season.

Would I buy another Christensen arms? Based on my personal experience and observations of others, absolutely.

I like them but they do have issues and really should be better quality for the money. Looks doesn't get it done for me, I like 1 hole guns and I struggled to get mine to shoot decent groups. That doesn't mean they aren't good guns overall.
