so I'm about 80 rounds through this MPR in 7 PRC and the thing seems to heat up after 2-3 shots with a minute or 2 gap between them. i zerod it at 200 and 2 shots at a time walked it out to 800 all good went to 1k good then 2nd shot-4 misses walked it back to 700 all misses then 1 shot at a time only to confirm 200 zero was off. re-zero'd one shot 3-500 every 100 went home.
next range outing zero was off again.... trying different ammo next range trip (going federal premium 175g eldx vs the outlander 160cx initially)

if this doesn't go well the question is am i better off punting the rifle and going with something else around the same price-point(hopefully) or finding a good smith and just re-barreling it. i love the trigger, i like the stock outside of the folding mechanism(seems like a lot of play for as tough as it is to engage and disengage) . if i went with something else i feel like id like a similar in terms of carbon barrel, trigger, folding chassis

Sorry should have specified vortex razor HD 6-36x56 ffp on Hawkins precision one piece mount. Everything is torques to spec and blue loctited.(except rail that was factory mounted that I didn’t check prior to mounting. but everything feels l
Solid)

Have you shot multiple groups with it when you zeroed to confirm group sizes and confirm zero?

When you zeroed did you shoot a large group at zero to confirm it?

Need to check assembly of everything. I absolutely wouldn't trust the factory rail to be secure and stress free. I'd at a minimum remove, check for stress in it, degrease/locktite, and remount but more likely i'd just bed it from the go.

Seems crazy but.. make sure the barrel is torqued. Make sure rail and action screws aren't getting into barrel tennon. Look into how action bedding is.

All that said - MPRs are notorious for walking barrels/zeros.

I was shooting and hitting a 4” headbox at 300 or 400 can’t remember(zero’s at 200). I’m going on Tuesday to try the other ammo I’m going to put some paper targets out there 200-500 every 100 and checking the groups. That range is all steel basically after 100yds and I happened to get there late and wasn’t able to respray targets this last time. Only 2 outings with the rifle so far. 1st was 20 rds to zero. Then the 60rd session I mentioned in op.

I’m also going to take @wind gypsy advice and check for stress and re-torq and locktite everything.
