Christensen Evoke 6.5CM - Initial Thoughts

I know this thread is a little old but I just received the same rifle about a week ago. I bought a Field Proof model and for $650 it is an insane value. It feels bullet proof. I am a middle weight rifle guy so I don’t mind it being a little heavy compared to other lightweight mountain rifles. Yes the stock is polymer but for the price in a factory rifle it feels good. I have only shot the cheap Federal whitetail 140gr soft points through it and was pleased with how it performed. Shot just over 1 MOA so I’m sure as I toy with finding ammo it likes it’ll be a tack driver. The only thing I may upgrade would be the stock eventually depending on what CA ends up offering for it.
From my understanding they did away with the proprietary footprint and it’s a rem700 LA footprint

The Evoke is a Remington 700 LA footprint, regardless of SA or LA cartridge. It should be compatible with any LA footprint stock/chassis out there. The difference between the factory SA and LA is just the location of the bolt stop, and a modified bottom metal assembly for either your LA or SA magazines. Not 100% sure on the factory bottom metal compatibility with all aftermarket stocks/chassis, so just be aware that it could require some tweaking if you need to use it. That and if you try and drop a SA evoke in a LA chassis with an integrated magwell/bottom metal, you will need to use modified magazines to feed a SA cartridge.

I made a rash decision one day in the gun store and bought one of these in 22 Creedmoor. I followed their break in procedure exactly. The first 20 were not great. After that it settled in and is shooting close to MOA. My rest was not ideal and I didn’t try too hard for groups yet. But I think it’ll do. 80 grain ELD-M factory loads.

I almost returned it when I realized it’s got a 1:7 twist. But so far I’m impressed. The magazine release is a little wonky but I’ll get used to it. It’s not gonna fall out by accident for sure.

I’ve got about 600 rounds thru it. It’s very accurate and pleasant to shoot. I’ve had no issues at all feeding, cycling, etc. my only real complaint is the bolt lift to cock is a little heavy, but otherwise the action is smooth. I shot two PRS matches with it and didn’t have any issues with the gun and it hadn’t been cleaned until recently. Overall still highly recommend it.
