I want a 18” lightweight (ish) 6.5 CM in 5/8x24 threading for a kiddo rifle. I’m not finding many factory options.

What platforms are there for buying and chopping down? I don’t want 1/2x28 and don’t want to run an adapter.

I don’t think tikka t3x allows 5/8 from what I’ve read at 18”.

It’s a kid rifle so I want it to budget friendly.

Why wouldn't you want an adapter? It's impossible to even know it's there once installed.

Howa or Browning X Bolt are the only factory options other than Tikka that I would consider.

What's your budget? The Christensen Ridgeline Scout is 16.25" threaded 5/8, mine shoots right around 1" 10 round groups with 147 ELDM factory fodder...

I think this is the factory option people are going with:

20” barrel
5/8 threaded
Youth LOP stock

This is good stuff. I’d be tempted to throw it into a rockstock and keep for me haha

Bought one last summer for my kids. Would buy again 10/10. Also, you can chop it and still have enough barrel to thread it 5/8 again if you want to.

If you want 18" out of the box for cheap, you could try a CVA Cascade. I know nothing about them, other than knowing they have an 18" 6.5cm option. You could also try a 20" 6.5cm CVA Scout. I bought one for my kids in .350 Legend and it shoots way better than I expected from a single shot.

Sauer 100 from eurooptic. Under $500. Have the barrel cut and threaded. Still be below the tikka price wise.
