Possibly a stupid question inbound, but how do you guys install the chimney caps on tipi's this tall, without making the stove pipe hole larger than needed? I know I could do it from the outside before pitching the tipi, but that seems like a pain in the ass to connect the remaining pipe after it's pitched.

Just don't,it's the perfect way to have pin holes on your tent, the sparks hits the top of that cap and falls out on your tent.

One of the old cabelas with the fold out legs. The spark arrestor is connected to the cap, but I can clip the cap off.

The winnerwell spark arrestor keeps water out, but is a pita to service. The kifaru style are awesome.

Ya know....if the damper piece was angled a bit any water would wick and end up outside the stove/pipe.

Is there a bottom spark arrestor?Better neutralize the problem at the source.

There is not, but I can just slide it in the bottom section after I cut of the rain cap.

The one time I used a spark arrestor, I woke up at 2 am to my wife shaking me and saying it smelled like smoke. When I turned my headlamp on I was shocked at how much smoke was in there! I went outside and knocked the spark arrestor cap thing off and aired the tent out. Great fun at -10 degrees. Never again.

I just made a spark arrestor for my seek outside tipi and I think the mesh I used is too large. What size mesh does your spark arrestor use?
