Kifaru 8 man tipi question

Do any one know that the strings are for on the 8 man tipi. It’s the ones on the outside about 1’ off the ground almost like a guide line but there’s not adjustment.

I have an old 8 man. Not 100% sure, but I always thought they were to vent the tipi? I've never used them. Also curious if anyone know for sure
