Currently in a V6 Ram, that has been a solid truck just getting up there in miles.

In between Madison and Milwaukee.

I think you're on the right track. Have you looked at the newer version of that truck? Or the f150 with the base (non-turbo) v6? They are cheap, reliable, low maintenance and get good gas mileage. They just wont win any races but 300hp should be enough.

I've looked at the newer Ram's and compared pricing. Had Chevy's previously and never had good luck with the Ford's I've had experience with.
The newer Outback's have also piqued my interest

The 5.7l 350 small block in my 97 chevy k1500 hunting rig is by far the most reliable motor.

I’m a little over 60k in my 2023 work truck with that motor. No issues with the drivetrain so far.
