I run a marsupial down under pouch and have a basic 1st aid kit in there for bad cuts. Figured my chest pack would probably be closest to me if I had a broadhead accident or something
RATS tourniquet
I like the chapstick with tape around it. I’ll have to use that one. I keep tape with me, but I am way more likely to lose tape than I am my chapstick. Can’t go without it in cold dry air.Mine is similar but also some 1.2mm dyneema cord. About 50' and chapstick with electrical tape wrapped around it.
Would but I can’t buy one yet, not 21.No handgun?
You can't buy one from an FFL. Federally you're not restricting from owning one, it's only the FFL that is restricted from selling it to you.Would but I can’t buy one yet, not 21.
Light fixed blade Victorinox knife in homemade kydex sheath.
3 extra rounds
This is the exact same stuff I carry minus the whistle and I think I might add one in now. Excellent idea. What does everybody keep in their chest rig/bino harness? I like to have mine setup with the basic gear I need when hunting. That way if I am separated from my pack on a stalk, or just need access to something quick, it’s right there. Here’s mine.
Binoculars
Rangefinder
Headlamp
Windchecker
License and tags
Predator call (season specific)
Main knife
Lighter
Firestarers
Chapstick
Whistle
Earplugs
Lens cloth
I will also normally keep 4 or 5 extra shells of whatever gun I’m shooting in there.

That’s a good idea, might have to add thatYou guys pretty much have it covered. I do carry a few water purification tabs in there also
Its just a $8 victorinox paring knife from Amazon. Nice backup knife. I keep it in the side pocket with the RATS tourniquet. Smoke on the other side . Extra rounds and tags in the front zipper pouch just stuffed in there.Which knife is this? I have the lamb skinner but it’s too bulky for a chest rig.
How do you stow the 3 extra rounds?
Pictures would be great. I’d also like to see your homemade sheath if you okay sharing.
Yeah, some dude earlier said he sometimes ends up “miles” from his pack. That’s… I can’t imagine dropping the pack is really *that* necessary.Dang, some of you guys are carrying just about everything!I carry my binos and rangefinder. I’m usually not separated from my pack, ever. The only time I take it off on a stalk is if I have to crawl or go through some thick brush. I’ve lost packs way too many times and have spent quite a bit of time looking for them.
Yeah. The last time I dropped my pack on a stalk was on my son’s antelope hunt. Had to crawl through some tall grass up a hill to get within 150 yds. Only went about 60 yds from my pack but it took me an hour to find it!Yeah, some dude earlier said he sometimes ends up “miles” from his pack. That’s… I can’t imagine dropping the pack is really *that* necessary.
Not a bad idea to have some really basic stuff in the chest rig, but it sure seems like folks are trying to stuff their sleeping bag and shelter in there… might want to consider just not dropping your backpack?
And I’m with you - I’d be too scared to lose it if I walk more than 20 yards from it. Almost lost my phone last year; once you step away from it, all the trees look the same.
