wouldn't really be applicable in the field, but the magnetic "clique's" you can buy on line are fantastic! My daughters tell me they make me look like an old man but that's the beauty of exceeding 40, you don't really care!! haha
Second these. Magnetic clicks around the neck. First thing I put on every morning. I wear mine to work in landscaping daily, in the field hunting, everywhere.

I use BearKat safety glasses at work that have the bifocal cheater. The company also gets prescription safety glasses for employees that require them. Given the environment (steel mill) they hold up pretty well.
I use cheapo cheaters in a hard case stuffed in my pack where readily accessible. Right now I only need them for filling out my tag :)

I have a skinny hard case that I keep in my pack as I don't need them very often when hunting.

Surfing RS and general reading 1.5x
Fishing bag 2.0x for 6x tippet
Handguns 1.0x for solid focus on front sight balanced with not too terrible target image

So yeah, I carry them. Different strengths for different purposes, spares squirreled away everywhere. Kitchen, truck, john, pack, etc.

Now, some of you are mere youngsters but I know that there are some over 45 sliders out there and that is when the vision usually starts going according to my eye doc.
I can spot an elk at like 20 miles......I just can't read the scope turrets.
I usually have a stock pack on my rifle and carry a pair of readers in there but I've had some durability issues with glasses. Which brings me to my question-----any of you have or know of a bombproof set of cheaters, say in the 1.75 range?? Something that can take banging around in a pouch. And no laughing....your time be a coming.

Randy
Hey Randy, I hear ya, never leave home without a pair of cheaters anymore.
These have been on all my BP hunts now for the last 4 or 5 years. I picked them up at a local hardware store for about $10. Not UL but came in a nice little compact hard case and don’t take up much room. They only came in 3.00, so pretty powerful.

I just had my eyes checked and picked these up a couple weeks ago. They weigh a little over 0.5 oz., are 1.75’s and super durable, so I’m not too worried about breaking them. My eye insurance covers 1 pair a year, although this is only the second time I’ve gotten free eyeglasses.

This thread pains me to read as I'm in the same boat. Went to the eye doc for the first time in my life last year and asked the doc what's wrong with my eyes??? His first response was 'how old are you?'. 47 I said. His response was simply 'well, there you go'. Talk about a shot to the old pride factor!

Now I have Amazon cheapies everywhere - every bathroom in the house, kitchen, garage work/reloading bench, office, hunting pack. Some of these options listed are interesting though so appreciate all the ideas.

I need readers if I wear contacts and just use some generics from wally, I have quite a few of those in vehicles and packs. I started to wear sports glasses a few months ago and they look somewhat different but are vey comfortable and e-z to lift up on your head and then I can see up close just fine.

I have the sports glasses that have no arm just a strap from a short arm that is just over 1" long. Really like them.

Cheapies....and lots of them. Somebody makes a fold up set. Think it was Wally or maybe one of the drug stores.

Yeah, you can practically twist them up into the shape of a pretzel, let ‘em go, and they spring right back into shape. I don’t know who makes them, there’s just random letters and numbers on the frame, at least that’s what it looks like, hard to say without my glasses on.

Greg, that is EXACTLY what I'm looking for.....you have to find out who makes them!

Yes, it’s hell getting old...but better than the alternative. I have cheaters in every room at home but don’t take any on the road. If I go out to eat at a restaurant that has low lighting I can’t read the menu or the bill. I met a guy that had a pair of glasses that fit in his wallet that I should order.

These have the same gray cover, flexible bridge.

Google search cg1644 eyekepper

Not sure if that’s them or not.

Dollar store cheaters. Buy lots of them, always carry extras. I just put mine on my hat like the cool kids do with sunglasses. I've hunted hard and never lost any yet. easy to grab when I need to see the turret. mtmuley
