My buddy is tagging along for a hunt later in the year just to help glass, pack out etc.
He has some 8x or 10x binos and would like a tripod just to use with his binos.
He may use it a week a year at most.
What would you suggest that’s don’t break the bank.

I have an Innorel KT284C with a Smallrig head.

3.3# without the center column.

I bought the head in sale so I’m in the setup for $180.

I just bought one this week, that’s good to know. I was a little worried it might be cheap junk.
It was under a different brand name at the time but its the same tripod and same head. 9 years of abuse and still works 100%

You and I discussed this at one time and the link you sent me was for a Neewer tripod.

Looks to be the same to me, just a little cheaper.

I have a vortex CF tripod for sale here somewhere. Good tripod, just wanting to cut a tiny bit of weight and get a bit better head. Not swinging you that way, but it'd be decent for a couple hundred bucks. Just had it completely gone through at Vortex. Had a minor warranty claim and they replaced all three legs, none of which were bad IMO. Sorry not trying to sell you on it, but it works. Trekking poles also work great for binos. I use that and keep the spotter on the tripod.

I did my first three years of western hunting with an Amazon Basics tripod and a cheap post-style binoculars adapter with a threaded bottom that connects to the tripod baseplate.

All in for less than $50 and you get ~90% of the improved glassing benefits of a high-end tripod setup compared to no tripod.
