The orvis fleece lined pants for colder weather clearance price at Costco $8 and the orvis tech pants as well on clearance great quality for the cost.

I was about to buy the hood by Swazi but after shipping it was gonna be like 120 and on Amazon the cheapest I could find it was 75 is this what everyone has been paying or am I missing something?

You have to wait for their sales and free shipping. Don't remember what I paid but wasn't that bad. I love my Swazi stuff. I prefer the rattler with full length zipper over the hood. Not the cheapest but great gear.

Speaking of good cheap knives...I lost my ~$200 Benchmade mini bugout & saw these knockoffs on Amazon. For $20 I figured I'd take a gamble. I swear they must be made by the same factory. Compared next to a real one I can't tell any difference in the components. This same company has several models of the BM's

DIY ice pop bags make it easy to portion out single servings of electrolytes, protein powders, condiments, what have you.

I made some single serve protein powder mixes with the powder obvs and powdered whole milk and collagen and it was a nice easy drink on the go. Same with dumping a single bag of electrolytes into my nalgene (if you make your own or have a container not single serve packets)

Another option for cheap knives.
I’ve used the LX311 for years. It looks like it’s been replaced by this model.
I generally buy 4-5 at a time so I’ll have one right after I lose one.

I certainly understand but I'd rather $20 of my money go to China than $200 go to the bottom of the river

If you have to pack and stash water like I do these to go drink bags from Amazon work great. They’re light weight and if one pops or someone steals it I’m out a couple bucks and an extra hike vs $40+ for a dromedary.

I also concur the victrinox paring knife is great as well as the dexter Russell veggie knife. A little tip is the flexible cutting mats from Walmart that come in multi packs make great ghetto kydex and come in bright colors like yellow to make light cheap sheaths.
For rain gear some of the lighter Grundens stuff is my go to. I spend enough time outside as a forester that I’ve seen almost every cloth type rain gear fail so for days when I know it’s going to be nasty all day I take non permeable rain gear and just pace myself. The other trick we use is just long johns under your rain gear and keep your pants dry in your pack, it increases mobility and helps control body temps better.

Even better? Just stash the gallon jug of Crystal Geyser out there.

If you need to conceal it a little better, buy a cheap Walmart camo fleece throw-rug for 6 bucks (probably 12 now) and wrap it around it if need be. Not a big deal but do understand the rats will gnaw at the throw rug edges for nesting material.

I’ve used the 2oz plastic zip bags and they are a little cheaper. The first time i took some ignite to work i was told i was using dime bags. I guess even more handy if you happen to have some lying around.
