Rick Menefee, Menefee Made Knives "RingNecker". I'm not sure how many he made, but I did a spot and stalk bear hunt with he and Drummond Lindsey (Hunt Sonora) on the Pacheco Ranch in Northeastern New Mexico, he gave both of us one of those.
Ya!

I picked one of these up so I can have my son use it with my backup tripod and binoculars this season. I have to say, it's pretty tough to beat for the price. No, it's not on the same level as my Outdoorsman adapter, but I wouldn't expect that for the price. It's perfectly functional and should work well for anyone on a budget. I added a small arca plate to the bottom and now it works with any of my tripod heads. I might even prefer this to the Field Optics Research mount I tested a few years back. Thanks for posting it up!
Agreed! I didn't realize ya'll posted this before I did, I just saw it and posted it.

I can also second this same post.

I got mine on Tuesday this week and it's a sweet thing. I put it on my backup set of binos, but wouldn't hesitate to put it on my NL Pure's.

The only thing the Outdoorsman has over it is the push button + screw in lock. That way if you don't want to screw the nut down you don't have to.

For $17 this is unbelievable!

I picked up one of these also. Hard to argue with the price but I have not used an outdoorsman one. I will give this one a chance and see how it works. I am happy so far!

I wish I would’ve seen this Outdoorsmans alternative two weeks ago before I bought it. I was not happy at all about the price tag for what I got. If I had any time I would have just 3D printed one based off their design

Unfortunately I too find Outdoorsman items quite expensive for what you get....a pan head will run you $300 + a $300 tripod?! For that you can buy a Gitzo!

Aginor, I agree with you 100%.

Don't want to spend $70 + $20 (or more) for the stud or install for an Outdoorsman.

Or $50 on a Field Optics/Vortex Tripod adapters?

$17!!

For those on the fence, this is currently less than $13 right now for prime day.

Outdoor Products backpackers nylon tarp. 12 oz's with rivets on the edges. Pretty decent tarp for under $10 at Walmart. Or you can buy the same tarp at Cablea's for $19.99, but then that would have to go on the "what have you overpaid for" thread.

I wish they made it just a little bigger (8x10 would be great). Was forced to use it in 2017 to dry off and warm up.

Since I've made a couple of posts on this thread about the Staoptics binocular mount sold by Amazon I feel I should also point out a drawback I noticed last night. For most guys it won't matter, but if you have a narrow interpupillary distance or big barrelled optics this mount may not work well for you. I can't get my binoculars go their narrowest setting as the barrels touch the center post. I don't have that problem with my tall Outdoorsman mount. Again, for most people it probably won't make a difference but it's worth pointing out just so others are aware.

Buy a full sized pillow at Walmart for $2.97 after flying to hunting location. Every year even if we are backpack hunting, we always seem to spend a night or two at the truck. For that price it's disposable and can be thrown away before flying home. Sleep much better with a real pillow.

Let's bring this back up.

If you own a Silvertip or Cimarron and don't feel like spending $100 on a pole, this one is $20. The pieces are different lengths and you can get the perfect 57" for the Silvertip and 6' for the Cimarron. Total weight w bag for the Silvertip pieces are 13.5 oz. The Cimarron would be 17.1 oz.

I bought a pair of wrangler atg pants from target. $25. The seem to be a little nicer than the ones from Walmart. Also the zipper on the cargo pocket works better.

been said many times, but a cheap stove and pot set. even better that it all fits into the pot and packs away super nicely along with the canister. Also headlamp- cheap and a little goofy looking but super underrated.
