changing VXR 28 strings

Got several hundred though the bow and peep twisted, Gonna run it by shop and get it fixed no biggie. Im kinda worried about timing now. Was thinking of getting a set of strings. A few questions though

1) 60x, Catfish, GAS, First string or buckslayer strings? bcy 452 or x99?
2) do i need speed knocks? Do they put them where they need to be? Do they have monkey tails
3) Will there be any difference in speed between the zebra and custom?
4) any noise difference between zebra and custom strings?

I will chime in because I put some custom strings on my VXR 28.

1) I put America's Best Bowstrings platinum strings on mine, which are 452x. Guy at the shop told me that the GAS ghost and the ABB Platinum were probably the two best strings on the market in his opinion. I figured what the hell, for $40 more than most other strings cost, I'd give them a go. I've got probably 150-200 arrows through the strings and my peep as rotated just a little bit as they have settled in. I need to take it back to the bow shop and have a half twist taken out and check the tuning on it. As for all the brands you mentioned above, I have heard of them all and if they're all using pretty much the same materials I don't see how you could go wrong with any of them. I'm sure they all have some "podium finishers with our strings" marketing on their website anyway. Another brand I have had before that I liked was Hogwire strings, you could check them out if you are interested.

2) You do not "need" speed nocks, but manufacturers install them for a reason as they do have benefits. A quick google search will turn those up for you. If you order strings with speed nocks from an aftermarket manufacturer they will put the speed nocks where they need to be. String building companies have a blueprint of all the specifications that go in to building the strings for your particular bow. They probably won't have monkey tails, but just take the ones from your zebra strings and put them on there.

3) I do not know if there is any difference in speed between the zebra and custom strings I had put on mine. Never shot it with the stocks strings.

4) Again, I do not know about noise difference between the two because I never shot it with the stock zebra strings.

You can typically expect to gain a few pounds. You can ask your string maker to increase the serving size on your cams in order to increase your poundage. I would check out this new Bloodline Fiber, sounds pretty legit.

I'd be hesitant to increase serving size for few extra pounds. Predispose to derailing the bow by doing that.

1) I used catfish on my VXR 31.5 and was very happy. I went x99. either is good. Went buckslayer on my RX3. Equally as happy. Both x99. Both have been very stable.
2) yes to brass speednocks let the sting maker install them in the factory locations. He did not supply monkey tails. I did not move the monkey tails over to the new string.
3) I picked up a couple feet per second with my strings. Mostly due to removing the weight of the monkey tails off the new string I suspect.
4) No. Same noise as far as I can tell. If there is an edge its to the catfish strings. Hoyt seems the same but If there is an edge its to the buckslayer strings.

I shoot catfish and they are great in my opinion, over 500 shots no peep rotation and no stretch from what i can tell. The only thing is that my black eagle deep impact nocks did not fit the serving so i had to buy new easton nocks because i do not have a reserving tool. I don't know if you can request a certain serving diameter.

Typically this is true, however the VXR has extremely deep channels, going to be very difficult to derail them.
