Changing caliber

I have a Tikka 6.5 creedmore, I wanted a 6.5PRC but the deal on this rifle was to good to pass up. My question is what would it involve to make this rifle a PRC? Could the chamber just be redone? Or would it take a new barrel?

Bolt swap, magazine, feeding etc. Not sure if they could ream the barrel. Your “good deal” would end up costing more than a really good PRC and probably can’t be done.

Sell the CM, buy the PRC you want.

I’ve got no problems keeping this rifle and getting another. Just was wondering if it would be a simple job of reaming the chamber and changing mags.

Not really. You'd have to change the bolt face as well. Not impossible, but not really cost effective.

Can be done but also need to change the bolt face to .550 or a new mag bolt and a magnum magazine. Might as well get a bolt stop to long action while you are at it.

Would be easier to go to 6.5-284 if you take advantage of the long tikka action anyway

Thanks. I didn’t even think about the bolt. Looks like I “NEED” another rifle. Lol.
