I will be hunting with Sikanni River Outfitters 9/26 to 10/7

thinking about about a sleeping bag. We will be on horses so weight and size isnt of the utmost of importance

i am thinking synthetic just bc i might be wet or damp.

will i need a 0 deg bag or will a 15 work?

Get a zero degree bag. I was up that way last year in mid September for caribou and it had to have hit 10F the one night up on the mountain. My 15F western mountaineering bag had me wishing for a few degree warmer bag. It was the humidity in the air that just chilled you to the bone.

Wiggys is a good choice for synthetic if weight and bulk isn't too much of a concern. I have been using one (zero degree mummy) the last few years for caribou and moose float hunts in late august/September in AK. They are cheaper than the "top of the line" lighter more compact bags but work great.

Heavier bag or get a pair of KUIU Super down pants and hooded Super down jacket and wear them in the 15*F bag as required. That is a versatile system and the pants/jacket are great to have in the pack.

Another option is two 15* F bags that will nest/layer. I was in the Arctic in Feb with this combo and it will work if you want to carry both as long as one is cut a bit larger.

2nd the wiggy's, those bags can be wet and still keep you warm. Heavy bag relative 5lbs for a -20 f bag that won't break the bank. I've had 2 for over 20 yrs without a single problem.

Are you sleeping in heated wall tents on cots or in none heated light weight tents on sleeping pads?

wall tents

I have a 15 degree kuiu down bag and one of the 20 degree Wiggys Bags

I was looking at possibly getting either a wiggys or marmot 0 deg if i went that route...

The 15* KUIU down bag is cut pretty tight and makes a good inner bag for nesting....don't know if your 20* Wiggys would fit over it if the weather got really cold? That said I typically backpack or fly-in and sometimes Quad camp/hunt for moose/caribou in Sept and early Oct in Northern BC. All I take is my KUIU 15* plus the KUIU Super down pants and jacket. I haven't been cold yet, and sleep on a Thermarest Neoair R4 pad on the ground that time of year.
