Cell Phone Coverage

Does anyone know if you get cell phone coverage in the Weminuche Wilderness on top of the mountains?

Depends on where you’ll be in the weminuche. A few places I do get service, even on some trails. But mostly I’ve gotta be at the top of a hill and not in a drainage. South facing slopes will occasionally have service but I lose it soon as I go over the ridge to the north facing side.

if you goolge "cell coverage map" you should be able to see what areas are covered and by which service providers

There is a new app called Outly, I think its new, set up a lot like OnX, one of their filters is cell coverage, you can pull up the area your hunting and overlay.

Endlich Mesa has some coverage. Kite lake has none.

Endlich mesa has a bit in high spots. As does some of the areas around vallecito. I found that for whatever reason I got a bit more receptions in the morning. I have Verizon.

I have Verizon as well. I think I’m going to get a Zoleo to play it safe in the areas without cell service. Thank you guys for a fast response.

There are so many variables in that question.
if you need comms you need a zoleo/Inreach/satphone.
