California wildlife officials quietly shift on killing a high-profile predator

California wildlife officials are now allowing mountain lions to be killed to protect endangered bighorn sheep, changing a nearly decade-long practice of just moving them.

Funny how CDFW can still do everything that has been made illegal for sportsman to do .

Baiting with deer and other game animals
Trapping
Killing lions
Using hounds to catch lions
And the list goes on

All the while the depredation process is so complicated a rancher can hardly eliminate a problem lion .

The article seems to paint a anti hunting picture where hunters are just selfish users that want more deer to satisfy their hobby

As long as they are letting the public vote on stuff there will be stupid stuff happening. Glad they are killing the cats, even if they try to keep it on the downlow

The Ca game and fish is a disaster and they walk in lock step with our liberal Dem state politics.

They have been killing lions all along.....but they did not want the public to know about it. They bring in houndsmen to catch all of the problem lions- they did it at my buddies place in the foothills a few years back. He said he killed 30 problem lions in the last few years in the same general area.

Ca is overpopulated with lions due to the moratorium on killing them. I just wish people like the family in SoCal that had their kid dragged off a park trail hiking while he was hiking with them would sue the F&G- then we might see a change.

CA is about contract a company called White Buffalo to kill all 2000 deer on Catalina Islands in the new year...waste all the meat and take away opportunity.
