CDA ID locals

My friend relocated just north of CDA 2 years ago (loves it) and I am going up that way next archery season (Sept 2015) to hunt elk and whitetail as well as check out the area as I have always been interested in N. ID outdoors. My friend up there has taken a few whitetail (with rifle) in his immediate area but isn't too knowledgeable about elk hunting and is primarily a homesteader / off the grid type who isn't necessarily a hard core hunter so I will have some local knowledge but not much. I am asking for any Roksliders familiar with that region to let me know who you are so I can PM you with specific info . Thanks guys.

That's a nice area. I was just there this weekend on a road trip with my buddies. My inlaws moved away from there a couple of years ago and the father n law will be over this next week for a stay during Thanksgiving. When he gets here I'll pick his brain for you on where he used to hunt out there.

It will be really hard to hunt whitetails in sept here unless you have access to farmland.

Whitetail hunting in November in North Idaho has to be one of my favorite memories.

Rattling and still hunting has produced some big bucks up there. Time in the hills is the best strategy.

More stories than informational but a fun read for a WI boy.

All the elk are dead in this area the wolves have eaten them all.....anyplace in Colorado is much better

All the elk moved out. I heard they were in new Mexico.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the whitetail hunting is more in OCT than Sep from what I am seeing ? My primary focus is elk although I hope to arrow a whitetail deer up there sometime. Yeah I heard about ALL the elk leaving ID. What a shame. Maybe I can find 1 last one hiding out ? I do appreciate all you guys chiming in . I have been working alot the last few days and havent had time to get the specifics and PM anyone yet. Much appreciated guys.

I live about 30 min north of idaho for the last 5 years and have hunted elk and whitetails. Not much success due to holding out but always in the animals. Send me a pm if have specific questions. Thanks jared
