I recently bought all the stuff to work on my own bow because local shops near me suck. To the point they dry fired my brand new lift 29.5 checking the draw weight. The original mathews strings suck so now that the season is over I decided to restring it with a catfish custom string. When I got the string and cables the dimensions on the bag were a quarter inch shorter than what mathews says the string and cables should me. I sent an email and was told that mathews doesnt even make the strings to the dimensions they say and the strings were the correct length. I figure they know more than me since im just learning. My biggest issue im having tho is ill get the bow so that the draw weight is right, cams are timed right. I take it out to test shoot it and it shoots alright but there's a vibration at the hand. I checked every accessory and bolt on the bow everything is tight. Something with the string is causing it. Second issue is I cant get the ATA and brace height on without removing almost all the twists in the string and cables. With twists in it to where the draw weight is where it should be. The ATA is off by almost a quarter inch. Im new to this, so im trying to learn but between the ATA being so far off and the vibration in the hand im about to lose my mind. I have a lift x 33 and shot them side by side and my 29.5 is 100 percent vibrating compared to the lift x 33

Get the axle to axle length correct at 29.5” (shelf side of bow) by twisting the cables and/or string. The cables should be set running through the timing holes to start. Fine tune from there for cam sync, poundage, etc.

The only way I can get the ATA right is by having like 3 twist in the string and cables. The string and cables with no twists at all the ATA is only an 8th inch over what its supposed to be. So I put anything more than 3 twists in and im under what the ATA should be. Thats the big problem

I have a Lift 29.5 too, purchased January ‘24. I do all my own work on the bow (been doing so for 30+years). Current string set is from Catfish Customs, VEC99, I installed this past spring with no issues.

For me personally, I generally load the string first, keeping the old set of cables on. Once the string is set from a couple hundred shots I then change the cables. I roughly get ATA adjusted, shoot for a couple hundred more shots, then fine tune sync, timing, ATA, etc. I do not pay much attention to brace. If I have ATA and timing to specification, brace is where it is.

Without seeing the bow not much more I can say. Make sure the cables are routed correctly, is about the only other thing I would look into. Sorry I can’t help any more.
