Yep!Funny, this guy keeps getting responses. He made 1 dumb comment on the other thread and then doubled and tripled down on it. Now he starts a new thread with the same dumb comments. I call BS on this guy that he has ever gone into the woods 100% incapable of starting a fire. I would like to think NOBODY is that stupid. Or maybe, like he said, he stands alone on that. Personally, I have never started a fire during a fire ban or anytime outside of wet or snowy conditions, but I have always had a means to start a fire in my pack. Look back through my history of posts you see on here and you would see I am an ultralight guy. I make my own pack, tarp, down quilt etc. and now, my 4lb scoped rifle chambered in 6x45. Or my 4.5lb bow if archery hunting. I am gram weenie for sure but I will eat one less cheeseburger or lift weights if my fire starter kit is too heavy. This is literally the dumbest thing I have ever seen on here…..I think.
I agree if you are hurt or out of food and in a bad storm and cannot get help you are going to need serious help to survive. That is a lot of "ands". I guess to stop the madness here I will agree that if all of that happens you will need fire!!! But again that is a lot of ands, after the first or second and I am getting out there somehow... Or contacting help.Things don't always go so well. Unprepared people die of exposure regularly, make your choices appropriately.
I didn't want to hear anything. I wanted to get this conversation out of that other thread. Then it mostly turned into a bunch of garbage. I didn't call anyone any names or say anyones opinion on here was wrong or stupid. Told no one what they said was stupid. I will take my only shot at RS. Seems like a bunch of BS for someone that just stated their, my, opinion. It makes everyone here look like no one will allow for someone that doesn't agree with them. My opinion is just that I won't carry fire starter when I am forbidden to use it. I will plan the best I can to survive without it. Simple. But here on this forum that or I am stupid or a "douche".@stumblinhorse, what exactly do you want to hear? You stated your opinion, and ask ours. Almost everyone has chose break law and live.
No harm in my opinion in starting this thread. I think it might just feel like piling on because the response is so one sided. If a name or two was used it doesn’t reflect on the entire membership of RS.I didn't want to hear anything. I wanted to get this conversation out of that other thread. I appreciate you being straightforward and asking.
Clearly.He’s clearly trolling
No, I don't carry it because I am forbidden to use it. It is obviously an item of safety equipment that everyone was taught at a young age to carry. But if it cannot be used, why carry it? Or for God's sake why don't all you people that will just willing break the law, fight for some language in the restrictions that allows for fires in life and death situations? So….You don’t carry fire starting equipment/devices because you don’t want to. Great. Now that we’ve got that out of the way…..
If it is an item of safety equipment, Then why wouldn’t I carry it? I probably won’t need it. But I’m never ever ever ever going to say to myself “ Phew! I really wish I hadn’t brought that lighter with me…. I almost used it back there”.No, I don't carry it because I am forbidden to use it. It is obviously an item of safety equipment that everyone was taught at a young age to carry.
