Carbon 6 barrels

I bought 3 last year and took everything up to the gunsmith. Building a switch barrel setup. Doing a 20 vartarg, 220 swift AI, and a 6.5x47 lapua.
Smith said the 20 cal barrel was bent. Called carbon 6 told them what was going on. And they were great to deal with. I had a new barrel in about a month.
Smith said the other 2 barrels were gtg. I've only had time to shoot the 6.5 barrel. And it's shot great. I did a very very quick load work up. And had a half min load within 20 rounds. Barrel cleans easy very little copper.

I have a 22 creed barrel from them for my tikka. Bought during covid and had some supply chain issues but that is not their fault. Gave me a certificate for a pretty good deal on the next one due to the delay. It shoots as it should.

That’s what I was planning to do. What is your set up?

I had a 6 creed barrel made for my wife. The rifle shoots well. They chambered it and put it on the action for me. It took quite a bit longer than what I was told. If I recall correctly I was told 4 months. I had called after 6 months of waiting and spoke with Gene again. He apologized and had the barreled action at my house the next week or so. I’m not sure if it was forgotten and they put it in front of everything or it was just circumstance. Overall I’m still pleased with the build and would buy from them again.

Had it fit to my WTO switchlug 24' 7 twist featherweight. 88 eldms at 3250.
Had some issues early with necking down 6 creed brass. Neck turning fixed everything.
Edit: The tight chamber was not on carbon 6. I had it chambered else where.

Ordered a pre-fit last week, Gene told me approx. 3 months but had been getting orders out sooner than that on most occasions. First after market barrel.

It’s going to be my first as well. Really not that much of a price difference then a good steel barrel. Maybe $200.

Got ya. I was going to do an 18-20”. Was hoping to be able to hit about 3k with that bullet.

With the discount they were running the barrel I ordered was less than the previous steel ones I had purchased elsewhere. For the money I couldn’t resist, I didn’t think I’d ever do a carbon barrel again but I decided to give it a shot one more time.

Carbon 6 is just a branch or sister company of McGowen barrels. There is another thread I saw recently on McGowen that I imagine would apply the same to carbon 6. Summary of comments I read are that many are good shooting barrels, a few have had headspace issues on prefits and that customer service has pushed away a few people.

I have one on order now but a gunsmith is chambering it so I still feel confident on the decision.
